A little bit about me…Growing Up A Honey Bee!
Welcome to my page, Y’all!!
My name is Sydney. I’m a wife, mom of 2 beautiful kids, pet mom of 3 silly dogs and 7 crazy cats. I was raised and have lived my entire life in rural Kentucky, my family holding many deep-rooted traditions, ways of life, recipes, wisdom, and so much more. With my childhood of growing up on a farm and many family members who were also farmers, I was always in tune with nature and wildlife, exploring and finding myself every step of the way.
A little family motto we say often and we’ve always laughed about holds true for most anything in our lives: “There is a story for everything.” My wish is to share the knowledge and stories that have been passed down to me…to all of you. I love thinking of myself and my family as jacks of all trades, as we love to learn and have a passion for storytelling and teaching others. I spent many years watching my parents and grandparents, listening to their words and wisdom, watching every step they make, absorbing everything I could from them. As a child, growing up on a farm and in a small town was the norm for me…and like most kids, I took it for granted. It wasn’t until I was an adult and on my own before realizing how precious life really is, and that my parents and grandparents hold a great deal of knowledge and traditions that I hope to continue on with my own children, and now, all of you.
I feel called to share all of these things with you and help carry on the precious simplicities of life that I have learned and continue to learn over the years. I am a Registered Nurse and have been for almost 14 years, working in many areas of the medical field. I love interacting and taking care of others and have many passions. I am athletic, playing basketball my whole life, including playing college basketball, earning my nursing degree, becoming a wife and mother, buying my own farm and house, and building our beautiful life. I am an avid fan of the arts, I love to paint, draw, and create. I am a bleeding heart for animals, having 3 dogs and 7 cats, I’m a sucker for rescuing pets and hope to grow our crazy zoo with more animals someday soon. I have a green thumb, passed down from my parents and grandparents before me, and love gardening. I love to cook and bake- many, MANY recipes to share with the world and I can’t wait! I have a geeky obsession with the weather, it fascinates me to my core. I have lots of other little oddities that I’m sure will come out through my posts and stories 🙂
I have watched my grandfather, my Papa, raise honey bees my entire life, charming them every step of the way. I use to watch him in awe of how they were around him, his knowledge of how important they are to our world, and listen to him instilling that knowledge into my mother, father, sister, and myself. I have always found beauty in simplicity, in nature, in Mother Earth and how God has created it. Bees are another very small yet vital part of this circle of life and were important in my life growing up. Our traditions and simplicities are beautiful in their own way. This was the inspiration of my page title “Growing Up A Honey Bee.” My wife, Jessica, and both of our children have also been a HUGE inspiration for me to begin this journey to share with everyone…they are my rock and support, and I would not be here today doing what I am doing if not for them.
I hope you all enjoy my page! Please subscribe, reach out to me, and/or comment…I always love learning new things from others as well! Maybe together, we can build a beautiful online community that is a safe, inclusive, and non-judgmental space for all to share and love as one. See y’all soon!
Do good. Bee well. Bee happy. -Sydney

I’m biased because I’m married to the Honeybee, but this is going to be a great blog! I could set and listen to her tell stories for hours, she’s a pretty dang good cook too! Can’t wait for her to share my favorite Salted Honey Pie recipe. Also, we are leaving Thursday for an EPIC East Coast roast trip so stay tuned for some great content! Love ya babe 😘
